Geely Tiger GT

China: Performance car hotbed? You wouldn’t think so, but Geely is at least delivering the look with its Tiger GT (for “Geely Tiger,” yes, but it is also a GT by nature). Looking more Japanese than Chinese -- note the very Mazda-like grille -- and in no way a subcompact, neither of the 2+2’s rear passengers would get what you’d call a window seat. Only small triangular quarter windows give them a sense of the world going by. Not that it would be going by in a great blur. Perhaps hobbling the big cat somewhat is the reported 225-horsepower, 340 lb-ft., 3.5-liter V6. Still, the design is appealing.

James Bond wäre sicherlich stolz auf dieses Auto: riesige Kühleröffnungen, Scheinwerfer wie Augen einer wilde Raubkatze und geschwungene Flügeltüren wie ein König der Lüfte. Im Vergleich zum letzten Jahr wurde der Geely GT im Innenbereich komplett überarbeitet und bekam ein schickes Interior verpasst. Schon bald scheint dieses Fahrzeug in Produktion gehen zu können. Diese Entscheidung ist jedoch noch völlig offen - genauso offen wie die Frage, welche Motorisierung der Tiger erhalten wird.

SAIC Roewe 550

...if there’s a vague familiarity in the name and design of the new Roewe 550, you might be linking it with the extinct Rover brand -- and you’d be right. After Rover rolled over, SAIC landed the tooling to continue making them, only not as Rovers (Ford bought the name). Rover thus became Roewe, the 75 model became the 750 and the 550 is the new smaller sibling. The look is decidedly de-Englished from the models it follows, but the 550 has an agreeable if unremarkable style about it....

The Roewe 550 is a car produced by Roewe in the People's Republic of China launched at the April 2008 Beijing Motor Show. The 550 is reported to be derived from the MG Rover RDX60 project (itself based the platform of the Rover 75) which was under development when MG Rover failed

Zotye T600 wil hit the Chinese car market in 2013

The Zotye T600 debuted as a concept on the Beijing Auto Show in April. Many, including the Chinese automotive press, say it loox too much like an Audi Q5, especially from behind. We, agree. Zotye however doesn’t care, they copy whatever they want and bring it to the market no matter what. See this Z300, see this Z100, both shameless copies indeed. The T600 SUV will join the line-up in 2013, price will start around 100.000 yuan.

Less Audi up front. Engine is a 1.5 turbo based on the Mitsubishi-sourced 1.5 that powers the Z300. In non-turbo form it poops out 120hp and 143nm, with turbo it hits a decent 155hp. Zotye says they developed the turbo by themselves. We find that hard to believe. Gearbox: 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. Size: 4635/1892/1668, wheelbase is 2880, and those numbers make this T600 the biggest Zotye so far.
